The total number of registered unemployed for the month of August 2026 amounted to 717,926 people, recording a decrease of -72,918 people (-9.2%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and an increase of 2,598 people (0.4%) compared to the previous month of July 2026.
Of these, 369,342 (51.4%) people are registered in DYPA's registry for a period equal to or longer than 12 months and 348,584 (48.6%) are registered in DYPA's registry for a period shorter than 12 months.
- Men amount to 219,642 people (30.6%) and women amount to 498,284 people (69.4% ).
- The 30-44 age category gathers the largest number of registered persons among the age categories, amounting to 215,624 people (30.0%).
- The Secondary education level gathers the largest number of registered persons among the education levels, amounting to 325,926 people (45.4%).
Among the country's Regions, the Region of Attica and the Region of Central Macedonia record the largest number of registered persons, amounting to 255,560 people (35.6%) and 143,278 people (20%) respectively.
The total number of subsidized unemployed, for the month of August 2026, (concerns the number of beneficiaries who were paid within the corresponding month) amounts to 160,129 people, recording a decrease of -10,475 people (-6.1%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, August 2025, and an increase of 11,991 people (8.1%) compared to the previous month of July 2026.
According to DYPA, 154,934 (96.8%) are regular unemployed and other categories of subsidized unemployed, and 5,195 (3.2%) are seasonal workers in tourism professions. Men amount to 47,826 (29.9%) and women to 112,303 (70.1%).
Of the total subsidized unemployed, 129,942 (81.1%) are regular, 1,219 (0.8%) are builders, 5,195 (3.2%) are seasonal workers in tourism professions, 861 (0.5%) are other seasonal workers (agricultural), 22,722 (14.2%) are teachers, and 190 (0.1%) are other subsidized persons.
