PASOK asks the government spokesperson to take a position by condemning Freddy Beleris, on the occasion of a statement by the New Democracy MEP about Ilias Kasidiaris.
At the same time, PASOK, citing journalistic information, asks on the one hand “for what reason the director of the Prime Minister’s office and under whose instructions holds meetings with members of the Far Right” and specifically “with the municipal councilor, member of the National Front and interlocutor of Kasidiaris, Giannis Kourgianidis,” and, on the other hand, whether the prime minister is aware.
PASOK’s announcement
In its announcement, PASOK states that the New Democracy MEP, Freddy Beleris, during an interview with the television station ONE referred positively to Ilias Kasidiaris, whom he described as “one of the few Greeks who did [it] until the last day of his imprisonment.”
PASOK also argues that the MEP recognizes in a “praiser of Nazism” and in a person who, according to the announcement, “dreams of the overthrow of democracy,” the right to be on the political scene.
“The Government Spokesperson must immediately condemn his party’s MEP for his dangerous views”, PASOK states, adding that he should remind him that those convicted of serious criminal offenses do not perform a “heroic deed” by serving their sentence.
The questions about the Bekiris meeting
At the same time, PASOK cites journalistic information from “Thessaloniki,” according to which the director of the prime minister’s office in Parliament, Mr. Bekiris, met with Giannis Kourgianidis, a municipal councilor and member of the National Front.
According to the announcement, Giannis Kourgianidis confirms the meeting.
PASOK therefore raises the question of why the director of the prime minister’s office and under whose instructions he holds meetings with members of the Far Right.
At the same time, it asks for clarification as to whether the prime minister was aware of this specific meeting.
“For what reason does the director of the Prime Minister’s office and under whose instructions hold meetings with members of the Far Right? Is the Prime Minister aware?”, PASOK’s announcement concludes.
