By decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis, the project “Bioclimatic upgrade of the Megalopolis road network (Section B')”, with a budget of 3.5 million euros, was included in the Special Just Development Transition Program of the National Development Program (NDP) 2021-2025.
The proposed action concerns the planning and implementation of interventions on existing roads, which show increased needs for functional and aesthetic upgrading. The interventions include sidewalk reconstruction and restoration works, technical interventions on the roadway, installation of appropriate lighting on the sidewalks, as well as greenery and urban equipment works that upgrade the public space.
The aim of the project is to improve the microclimate, strengthen sustainable mobility, and improve the quality of life of residents, while at the same time ensuring full coverage of accessibility requirements.
