Piraeus was certified as Top Employer Greece 2026 by the Top Employers Institute, the international organization recognizing excellence in Human Resources practices, with a presence in more than 130 countries.
The certification is based on an independent assessment process of the maturity, consistency, and effectiveness of an organization’s human resources (HR) management policies and practices.
As part of the assessment, the Bank’s responses and related evidence were examined across 184 questions covering the entire “employee lifecycle”.
In its first participation, Piraeus achieved an overall score of 93.74%, compared with an international benchmark of 85.71% among 2,500 certified organizations worldwide, and is the only Greek bank included in the Top Employers Greece 2026 list. The assessment covers six areas, with 20 topics such as Human Resources Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Employee Wellbeing.
The CEO of Piraeus Christos Megalou states: “Piraeus’ strength is inextricably linked to its people. For us, the strategy for our people is an integral part of our business strategy and a fundamental prerequisite for growing, innovating, and creating lasting value. The Top Employer certification is an important independent recognition of the progress we have achieved and, at the same time, a benchmark for the next step. Our ambition is for Piraeus to be an employer of choice for the market’s top talent and an organization in which our people have the opportunities and the tools to grow, lead, and shape the future.”
The Chief Human Resources and Group Change Officer of Piraeus, George Georgopoulos emphasizes: “The Top Employer certification is of particular value to us because it is the result of a demanding and comprehensive independent assessment of all our practices for our people. The performance we achieved in our first participation confirms the maturity and consistency with which we have built our human resources strategy. This development recognizes the collective effort of Piraeus’ people and gives us even greater momentum to continue raising the bar, creating a modern work environment that attracts, develops, and retains high-potential employees.”.
Massimo Begelle, Head of Southern Europe & Middle East at the Top Employers Institute, states: “Congratulations to Piraeus on its certification as a Top Employer and on being the only bank in Greece to receive this recognition. Behind this distinction lies the independent, evidence-based confirmation of the way Piraeus leads, develops, and cares for its people. This reflects an ongoing commitment to placing people at the center of its business activity and sets a standard for the sector.”.
