“The ND government, instead of issuing announcements through the Ministry of National Economy and Finance that simply confirm the correctness of ELAS’s proposal, would do well to answer: Does it intend to impose a cap on the excess profits of the refineries?”, ELAS points out in a statement after the four measures proposed by Alexis Tsipras to reduce fuel prices.
As ELAS states, “only with this choice can prices fall to 1.4 and 1.8 euros per liter for heating oil and diesel respectively.
Does it intend to tax the excess profits of the previous half-year?
Only in the first half did they have profits of 1.998 billion.
1.278 of these are considered extraordinary profits.
If it does one of the above, prices fall under ELAS’s proposal, without any fiscal burden.
It can also temporarily reduce VAT, like Spain, and it can reduce the excise tax by almost half, that is, to the minimum permitted limit.
The rest is empty talk and excuses of the guilty. Let them stop and finally tell us what they intend to do.
Unless they intend to once again pass the cost on to consumers.
P.S. Mr. Kyranakis, secretary of ND, agreed on a morning television program that the proposal of E.L.A.S. is feasible to implement. The Ministry of National Economy and Finance answers otherwise. At last let them find a common line in ND, even if they need to “get off their high horse”! because they are starting to become tiresome”
