Contracts for the implementation of energy upgrade interventions at the General Hospital of Athens “Alexandra” and at the General Hospital “Kilkis” were signed today, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas and the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis.
Also present at the signing of the contract were the MP for Kilkis and second vice president of Parliament Giorgos Georgantas, the administrator of the General Hospital of Athens “Alexandra”, Elpiniki Tavianatou, the administrator of the General Hospital of Kilkis, Savvas Kiologlou, the president of Ktiriakes Ypodomes Timoleon Katsipos and the CEO of the company Athanasios Giannaris.
The two contracts concern extensive interventions in the building envelopes and the electromechanical installations of the hospitals, with the aim of significantly reducing energy consumption, improving the functionality of the facilities and upgrading conditions for patients and staff.
Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas stated:
“With the signing of the contracts for the energy upgrade of the General Hospitals "Alexandra" and Kilkis, we are moving forward with two more important interventions for the modernization of public health infrastructure. These are projects with a total budget of approximately 6.97 million euros, which include substantial interventions in the buildings and electromechanical installations, in order to reduce energy consumption and improve the operating conditions of the two hospitals.
At "Alexandra", the works combine the energy shielding of the building envelope, the upgrade of the electromechanical installations and the utilization of Renewable Energy Sources. Correspondingly, at the General Hospital of Kilkis, the interventions extend to a series of buildings and include thermal insulation, new frames, upgrading of lighting, air conditioning and boiler rooms.
Our goal is, through Ktiriakes Ypodomes, to steadily upgrade the building stock of the Public Sector. Especially in the field of health, to create more modern, functional and energy-efficient infrastructure for the benefit of patients, doctors and nursing staff”.
Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis stated:
“Today’s signing of the contracts for the energy upgrade of the General Hospital of Athens "Alexandra" and the General Hospital of Kilkis constitutes another important step in the major program for modernizing the infrastructure of the National Health System (NHS). These are two important interventions that will substantially upgrade the building and electromechanical installations of the hospitals, while at the same time reducing their energy consumption and environmental footprint.
Our goal is to deliver to patients and employees modern, safe and functional Health structures, with better conditions for hospitalization and work. By utilizing European resources and in close cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and Ktiriakes Ypodomes, we are moving forward with planning and speed. The upgrade of the NHS is no longer an announcement; it is projects being implemented throughout the country and changing in practice the image of public Health”.
The CEO of Ktiriakes Ypodomes Thanasis Giannaris said:
“A key priority of Ktiriakes Ypodomes is the improvement of health infrastructure, because health is a supreme social good and a fundamental right.
Today we signed two important contracts for the energy upgrade of hospitals in Athens and Kilkis.
We all know how important the upgrading of health infrastructure is in the capital, where half the population of the country has been concentrated, as well as the health safeguarding of a key border region.
These are important projects, which apart from changing the image of public health, in the difficult hours of the energy crisis will achieve a reduction in energy consumption and significant savings of resources”.
