A top government source, speaking to journalists in New York, stated that "Mr. Erdogan's statements today, regarding Greek-Turkish relations are moving in a different direction from what we had heard in the recent past".
The same source added that "we are neighbors. We are condemned by geography to live next to one another. The important thing, at this moment, is for this tension to subside, a tension that we have not escalated".
