PROTASIS PHARMACEUTICALS announces the start of a strategic partnership with EGIS Pharmaceuticals PLC, undertaking the official representation and promotion of its portfolio in the markets of Greece and Cyprus.
EGIS Pharmaceuticals PLC is an international pharmaceutical company headquartered in Budapest, with a 110-year history and a presence in more than 100 countries worldwide. It employs more than 4,800 employees and records annual turnover approaching 1 billion euros, possessing a strong research and production infrastructure. During the year 2025, its investments in Research and Development amounted to 57 million euros.
EGIS's portfolio includes 250 products, with a particular presence in cardiology, and the Central Nervous System (CNS). The company has significant expertise in the development of combination therapies in cardiology, as well as innovative pharmaceutical products, some of which are not currently available in the Greek market. The partnership creates prospects for expanding the therapeutic options offered to patients and the medical community of Greece and Cyprus.
The CEO of PROTASIS Pharmaceuticals LTD, Georgios Konstantellis, stated: “The partnership with EGIS constitutes an important step in the strategic development of our company and strengthens our presence in the markets of Greece and Cyprus. We are expanding our portfolio with high added-value products in important therapeutic categories with the aim of offering new therapeutic options to patients and the medical community. At the same time, the breadth of EGIS's portfolio creates significant opportunities for new partnerships with pharmaceutical companies through licensing-out agreements, for the utilization of selected pharmaceutical dossiers and the commercial distribution of corresponding products in Greece and Cyprus. Our partnership has a long-term horizon and we aspire for it to evolve beyond commercial activity.
In this context, over the long term we are also examining the possibility of developing production activity in Greece, including the prospect of creating a pharmaceutical production unit, provided that the appropriate business, investment, and regulatory conditions are formed. In this context I had the opportunity to present our new strategic partnership and its development prospects to the Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, in the context of our recent meeting, during which we discussed the opportunities being created for the Greek pharmaceutical market”
