By joint initiative of the Ministries of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, discounts of up to 50% on the ferry tickets of substitute teachers are announced.
The time periods during which substitute teachers are entitled to travel with discounted tickets are as follows:
o A2 supplementary phase: 23/09/26 –28 /09/26
o B phase: 30/09/2026 – 08/10/2026
o 23/12/26 – 07/01/27 – Christmas
o 23/04/27 – 09/05/27 – Easter
o 19/06/27 – 03/07/27
More specifically, the discounts on ferry tickets are as follows:
SEAJETS
The discount is set at 50% both on the individual passenger tickets of substitute teachers in primary and secondary education and on the tickets for their vehicles (private cars and two-wheelers) during the aforementioned scheduled periods
The benefit applies to all SEAJETS vessels and is available exclusively through cooperating ticket issuing agencies and not through the online booking system. For the issuance and inspection of tickets, beneficiaries must present a copy of their hiring or placement decision, as well as their police ID card.
The discount will be activated in a timely manner in our company's booking system before the start of each period.
Levante Ferries Group
50% discount on passenger and vehicle tickets for substitute teachers in primary and secondary education who will travel during the 2026-2027 school year exclusively during the scheduled periods (they may not be made open or used in a different time period). The above discount concerns the issuance of tickets for themselves and their vehicles (private cars, two-wheelers) upon presentation of all the necessary documents so that they can receive the discounted tickets from our Consortium's agencies.
LIVEDITTA LIMITED FOREIGN BRANCH LTD
30% discount on the ferry tickets of substitute teachers for travel during the 2026-2027 school year according to the scheduled periods.
Skyros Shipping Company (Skyros Shipping Co.)
30% discount on the ferry tickets of substitute teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. The discount concerns both the individual tickets of the teachers and their private car. The discount applies exclusively to non-subsidized routes and is provided to eligible substitute teachers, in accordance with the company's terms and conditions.
KARTHAIA N.E. Goutos Lines
50% discount for newly appointed teachers, both on their individual tickets and on the transport tickets for their private vehicles and two-wheelers, during the aforementioned scheduled periods.
Fast Ferries
For the travel of substitute teachers in view of their departure to or return from their areas of permanent residence, a discount of 30% on individual tickets and 20% on the tickets for their vehicles (private cars and two-wheelers) is provided during the aforementioned time periods.
The discount will be granted by the company's competent central port offices.
Beneficiaries are required to carry the discount supporting documents.
Golden Star Ferries
For the travel of substitute teachers, during the aforementioned time periods, a discount of 30% on individual tickets and 20% on the transport tickets for their vehicles is provided, subject to sufficient availability.
The discount concerns the vessels SUPERFERRY – ANDROS QUEEN - ANDROS KING - SUPEREXPRESS - GOLDEN PRINCESS and specifically the destinations ANDROS – TINOS – MYKONOS – PAROS - NAXOS – IOS – THIRA or any destinations served by our company during that period.
The collection and purchase of tickets will take place at the central port offices at the vessels' departure points and upon presentation of the relevant Ministry of Education decision on hiring and police ID at the travel agencies and at the boarding check of the vessels.
Minoan Lines (Minoan Lines)
50% discount on the individual tickets of substitute teachers in primary and secondary education as well as on their vehicles (private cars and two-wheelers), which will be transported strictly and only within the time periods as defined and sent by the competent Ministry and Authorities, on the route PIRAEUS – MILOS – HERAKLION & HERAKLION – MILOS – PIRAEUS.
The discount applies to all seat categories except Lux cabins, A1/AB1.

A 50% discount is provided on ferry ticket prices, on all routes, as well as on intermediate routes, on individual tickets and vehicle tickets (private cars and two-wheelers), for substitute teachers traveling to the destination islands to assume service, with the aim of their timely arrival at their place of service, for the current 2026-2027 school year, with the discount validity period from 23/09/2026 – 03/07/2027.
The discount will apply throughout the 2026-2027 school year, provided that the trip takes place from the 1st up to and including the 10th day after the announcement of the teacher's hiring. As date of hiring in the placement area, the one stated in the relevant Ministerial Decision applies and not the date of placement in a school unit.
DODEKANISOS SEAWAYS
A 30% discount is provided to substitute teachers (on their individual tickets only and not on vehicle tickets) for the entire 2026-2027 school year, and it is clarified that the discount is not limited to the phase dates.
DISCOUNT SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
Eligible teachers must present, both when issuing tickets and when boarding, the following supporting documents:
- The relevant Government Gazette or Ministerial decision certifying the hiring.
- Police ID card.
The Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Sofia Zacharaki, expresses her warm thanks to the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Vasilis Kikilias, as well as to the ferry companies, for their immediate response to the request of the Ministry of Education and their contribution to facilitating the travel of substitute teachers.
