Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou, is traveling to Belgrade today in order to participate in the 2nd Quadrilateral Ministerial Meeting on Energy and Connectivity in Southeastern Europe, which will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6.
The meeting is a continuation of the first quadrilateral held in Athens on May 15, at the initiative of the Greek Minister, and aims at deepening energy cooperation between Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
Also participating in the meeting will be the Minister of Energy of Serbia, and Dubravka Handanović, the Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources of North Macedonia, Ms. Sanja Božinovska, and the Minister of Energy of Bulgaria, Ms. Iva Petrova, as well as the heads of the Natural Gas and Electricity Transmission System Operators from the four countries.
At the center of the discussions will be strengthening the security of energy supply, the development of natural gas infrastructure and electrical interconnections, the operation of energy markets, and the just transition.
Strengthening regional cooperation is a key priority for Greece, with the aim of diversifying the sources and routes of energy supply and shaping conditions of greater energy security for the benefit of the citizens and businesses of the region.
