A government delegation is in the affected areas of Crete, in which the head of the ELGA Heraklion branch and his associates are participating. Heading the delegation is the Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, Giannis Andrianos.
As stated in an announcement by ELGA, the head of the branch, Nikolaos Daskalakis, and the Director of Insurance of ELGA's central administration, Anastasia Belesioti, are organizing teams of geotechnical employees. Their task is to demarcate the affected areas, identify the crops that suffered damage, and determine the losses in livestock capital.
According to the Organization's planning, the teams in the field will demarcate the areas, while ELGA's correspondents have opened the damage reports, so that producers may submit declarations for the damages they suffered.
The assessments will be carried out when conditions permit and mainly after the waters recede. ELGA's central administration will reinforce the Heraklion branch with the necessary staff, with the aim of completing the assessment process as soon as possible.
Finally, regarding livestock losses, the Organization's geotechnicians will apply the provisions of the regulations and will expedite the completion of the assessments, with protection of public health as their guiding principle.
