Passenger traffic at Athens airport during September 2026 reached 3.6 million, up by 3.5% compared to 2025, despite the ongoing geopolitical instability and the suspension of use of one runway for a period of two (2) days within September, due to scheduled upgrade and maintenance works.
Both domestic and international passenger traffic recorded an increase, exceeding 2025 levels by 3.1% and 3.6% respectively.
Overall, since the beginning of 2026, the airport’s traffic reached 27.31 million passengers, recording an increase of 4.3%. Passenger traffic, both domestic and international, increased by 4.2% and 4.3% respectively
The number of flights at Athens International Airport during the January-September 2026 period reached 227,173, recording an increase of 3.6% compared to 2025. Domestic flights recorded an increase of 4.6%, while international flights increased by 2.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2025
