The lawsuit of EOPYY against Novartis Hellas, which had been filed in June 2025, is being heard on November 12 by the Athens Multi-Member Court of First Instance, with which the Organization is claiming 228,630,000 euros.
The case has been handled by the Legal Council of the State and concerns the prescription of medicines and the artificial boosting of the company's sales in the Greek market.
With the amount sought, EOPYY seeks monetary compensation for the moral harm it claims to have suffered, while the Organization reserves the right to pursue claims concerning any material damage.
The text of the lawsuit refers to a system of practices that - according to EOPYY - involved organized interventions toward healthcare professionals, through funding their participation in international medical conferences and through targeted epidemiological studies.
It is also based on the out-of-court settlement that parent company Novartis had entered into in June 2020 with the U.S. Department of Justice.
At the center are healthcare professionals who worked in public hospitals and are referred to in the American documents as "foreign officials".
