Dimitris Gerogiannis has announced his decision to step down as chief executive of Aegean.
In his letter, he writes: “Throughout my 25 years in leadership roles, the sole criterion for every decision I made and every action I took, in difficult times and less difficult ones, was what was best for our organisation as a whole and how to improve it. Only in this way can we also improve things for our customers, for you, my colleagues, and for our shareholders.”
He notes that “the baton is being passed, gradually, to the next generation on solid foundations—the ‘mettle’ we forged together over the years, through and despite the many major crises we have faced, and through the organisation’s successful development.”
“I am passing the baton into good, tried-and-tested hands. But after 27 years at full throttle, I cannot go back. I will remain involved, actively encouraging and supporting the transition to the next generation, in whom I have confidence, and I hope they will take the organisation much further,” he adds.
