Funding of 13,869,238 euros has been secured from the NSRF “Environment and Climate Change 2021–2027” programme for energy-efficiency upgrades to healthcare facilities, following decisions by the responsible Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis. Specifically, the following buildings are being upgraded:
--General Hospital of Karditsa and Centre for Physical and Medical Rehabilitation (K.E.F.I.A.P.), with usable floor areas of 20,335 sq m and 1,785 sq m, respectively.
The works include the installation of composite thermal insulation systems, energy-efficient window frames, new heating and cooling systems, LED bulbs and other energy management systems. Passenger and stretcher lifts will also be replaced with new models in energy class A, and a photovoltaic system will be installed using net metering. Medical equipment will also be replaced with new, state-of-the-art equipment with low radiation emissions and low energy consumption (four operating theatre lights, one gastroenterology endoscopy tower and one laparoscopic tower). Once the works are complete, the hospital complex will be upgraded from energy class E to B, and the K.E.F.I.A.P. from C to B. The project has total public funding of 5,300,566.36 euros.
-- University General Hospital of Alexandroupoli. As part of the project, covering a usable floor area of 75,634 sq m, an upgraded building management system with controllers, sensors, meters and upgraded software will be installed, along with 8,562 LED light bulbs, wall insulation covering 15,500m², new energy-efficient window frames covering 2,710m², ventilation screens, other insulation measures and a photovoltaic system with a total capacity of 2MWp. Once the works are complete, the hospital complex will be upgraded from energy class D to B. Total public funding amounts to 8,568,672.07 euros.
