The Vodafone Foundation has announced the launch of the 10th nationwide Generation Next competition, celebrating a decade of creativity, innovation and digital skills development for the next generation.

According to the announcement, this year’s competition focuses on the theme “Digital Wellbeing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI),” highlighting the importance of using technology and the internet safely and responsibly, as well as the role of artificial intelligence in young people’s everyday lives.

Entries and deadlines

As part of the international Skills Upload Jr Challenge (SUJ), Generation Next invites lower-secondary school students to turn an idea into a fully developed project, with guidance from a teacher. The aim is for them to draw on their digital skills, creativity and technology to propose solutions to real needs in modern life and help create a safer, more inclusive and sustainable digital environment.

Teams can register through the digital platform www.generationnext.vodafone.gr until 11 December 2026. Proposals can be submitted from 12 December 2026 to 15 February 2027.

The three top teams will receive technology prizes, according to their position in the final rankings. The first-placed team will automatically take part in the international SUJ competition alongside the winning teams from other countries. An international jury will assess the proposals and select the overall winning team, which will receive an educational travel experience.

Vodafone Foundation’s statement

Alexandra Papanikolaou, head of the Vodafone Foundation in Greece, said: “For ten years, through the nationwide Generation Next competition, we have invested in young people’s talent and encouraged them to shape a better future with the help of technology.

At a time when artificial intelligence is part of our everyday lives, it is more important than ever for young people to use the possibilities of the digital world responsibly, creatively and with confidence, while safeguarding their digital wellbeing. We look forward to seeing the innovative ideas that emerge, showing how the next generation can use technology as a force for positive change.”

To date, more than 148,000 teachers and students have been introduced to new technologies through Generation Next. The nationwide competition has seen 1,042 innovative student ideas developed, with 318 schools and educational organisations from 166 municipalities across Greece taking part.

The programme is an initiative of the Vodafone Foundation and is implemented in partnership with the educational non-profit organisation SciCo – Science Communication, with academic input from the German School of Athens.
