Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos met representatives of the Aspropyrgos Industrial Park/South Sector (VIPANOT). The meeting focused on the steps needed to complete the licensing of the Business Park in the area.
According to an announcement, the development minister pledged to accelerate the process by issuing the relevant Joint Ministerial Decision in the coming days, allowing the project to proceed.
The new Joint Ministerial Decision will finally resolve outstanding legal and planning issues, addressing matters that had led the Council of State to annul the original plan. The forthcoming formal approval fully incorporates the requirements of the court ruling and current environmental standards, providing full legal safeguards and the stability needed for the smooth development of the Business Park.
The project involves the rehabilitation and organisation of an area of more than 2,000 stremmas in the southern sector of Aspropyrgos. It is the first concerted effort to transform an informal, densely built-up industrial cluster into a modern, organised Business Park in south-eastern Attica, with a total budget of around €25 million. Its main aim is to radically upgrade the area into a model hub for industrial, craft, processing and logistics activities.
These formal safeguards are intended to attract new investment, boost the local economy and create new, well-paid jobs in a safe and environmentally sustainable setting.
Those attending the meeting included VIPANOT head and Aspropyrgos Mayor Ioannis Elias, Secretary-General for Industry Lefteris Kritikos, and relevant officials from the Development Ministry.
