Payments totalling €32.34m were made under Pillars I and II of the Common Agricultural Policy. Of this amount, €28.61m completes the payment round announced in the press release of 15 October. It covers Pillar I support outside IACS for beekeeping, the wine sector, fruit and vegetables, and the transport of agricultural products to the Aegean islands. Under Pillar II within IACS, the first payments were made for afforestation and the welfare of farm animals, along with the settlement of outstanding agri-environmental support and compensatory payments.
Payments of outstanding commitments under investment measures have also begun and are progressing smoothly, with €3.73m paid from 1 to 15 October. Of this amount, €3.66m was paid to 99 beneficiaries of continuing Farm Improvement Plans. Payments were also made for investments in water conservation and forest protection.
The payments were made after the required administrative, cross-check and other prescribed checks had been completed, and the information needed to finalise the list of beneficiaries had been processed.
Depending on the case, the process included eligibility checks, cross-checks of data and supporting documents, checks that the prescribed conditions had been met, and the entry of check results into information systems to finalise the payments.
Once the checks had been completed and the relevant cases settled, support could be paid to beneficiaries who meet the prescribed conditions, while also helping to ensure the proper management of EU funds.
