A meeting to draw up New Democracy’s programme for the 2027 elections was held today at the party’s headquarters.
The discussion focused at length on strengthening the role of the organisations formed after last November’s internal party elections, the party’s bodies and its ordinary members in jointly shaping the programme.
Specifically, proposals for New Democracy’s government programme for the next four-year term will be submitted by 15 December through a dedicated platform accessible to all active members of the party.
The meeting was attended by the party’s vice-president and Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, who is heading the team tasked with drafting New Democracy’s programme; Political Committee secretary Konstantinos Kyranakis; director-general Giannis Smyrlis; secretary for Organisation Stelios Kontadakis; deputy secretary of the Political Committee Panagiotis Lebesis; and ONNED president Orfeas Georgiou.
After the meeting, New Democracy vice-president and Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said:
“New Democracy has a measurable record in government. But we are not asking for a vote of gratitude.
Citizens expect us to find solutions to their problems and present a clear plan that offers a convincing vision and hope for Greece in 2030.
Precisely because we have been in power for many years, we have an even greater need for new ideas.
We need to think beyond the usual, avoid the repetition of familiar proposals and seek new approaches, drawing on our experience as well as ideas that may emerge from engaging with society.
That is why the participation of our party and its youth wing in shaping the programme has real substance.
We expect fresh proposals particularly from ONNED, as young people can bring new ideas and a different perspective.
With everyone’s contribution, we want to develop a programme that is realistic but also innovative.
After all, New Democracy is the only political force on which Greece can place its hopes!”.
Konstantinos Kyranakis: New Democracy’s programme for Greece in 2030 will bear the imprint of the grassroots
“New Democracy’s programme for Greece in 2030 will bear the imprint of the grassroots.
By 15 December, the Political Committee, Local Organisations, the Inter-Secretariat, the policy sectors and, of course, ONNED will have submitted their proposals so that we can shape together a winning programme, a programme for a strong Greece in 2030.
I want to thank Vice-President Kostis Hatzidakis, because today’s move shows that we are an open party, a party that genuinely belongs to its members, a party capable of renewing itself with new ideas and new faces who want to serve the country.
I encourage every party official and every ordinary New Democracy member across the country to take part, so that together we can shape an innovative, modern programme with an eye to the future”.
