Eurobank took part as a Strategic Partner at Investopia Mediterranean–Athens, with its senior management actively involved in the event, which was held on 22 October at the Conrad Athens The Ilisian hotel in Athens.
The United Arab Emirates’ international investment initiative brought together senior government officials, international investors, representatives of major financial institutions and large business groups. Its aims were to promote investment dialogue, identify cross-border cooperation opportunities and strengthen investment partnerships between the UAE, Greece and the wider Mediterranean region. Discussions focused on international investment flows and opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, technology and financial services.
On the sidelines of the event, Eurobank Chief Executive Officer Fokion Karavias and Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Head of Corporate & Investment Banking Konstantinos Vassiliou held a private meeting with His Excellency Mohammad Abdulrahman Alhawi, the UAE Undersecretary of Investment and President of Investopia. They discussed ways to further strengthen investment and financial cooperation between the UAE and Greece, as well as deepen ties between the two countries’ investment and business communities.
The meeting took place amid stronger economic and investment cooperation between Greece and the UAE, with activity increasing in strategic sectors of the economy. For Eurobank, further developing ties with the Emirates’ investment and business community is a strategic priority, aimed at connecting markets and capital, supporting international investment and creating new business and financing partnerships.
The Bank already plays an active role in major international financings, syndicated loans and complex transactions linked to UAE business and investment interests, both in Greece and in other markets, in accordance with the applicable regulatory and supervisory framework. It is also planning to establish a physical presence in Abu Dhabi, as part of the Group’s broader international growth strategy. Eurobank’s presence in India, through its Representative Office in Mumbai, also forms part of this approach. The office was inaugurated in May 2026 and strengthens business links between India and Greece, Cyprus and the European market.
As part of the main programme, Fokion Karavias spoke with Financial Times journalist Eleni Varvitsioti in a discussion entitled “A Conversation with Eurobank”.
Konstantinos Vassiliou took part in the panel “Mobilizing Capital: Financing the Next Wave of Global Investment”, which examined the role of banks and financial institutions in financing the next generation of international investment. Also taking part were Leandros Katsouris, Head of Greece & Cyprus Investment Banking at Bank of America; Pantelis (Linos) Lekkas, Group Head of Investment Banking and Markets at First Abu Dhabi Bank; Dr Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece; and Karim Noujaim, Managing Director of SkyKapital.
