The new myDiesel app from the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, which will radically change farmers’ day-to-day lives, was presented today at a joint press conference by Margaritis Schinas, minister for Rural Development and Food; Dimitris Markopoulos, deputy minister for National Economy and Finance; and Giorgos Pitsilis, governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue.
myDiesel does away with the time-consuming system of retrospective refunds, instead providing immediate exemption from the special consumption tax (SCT) and the applicable VAT directly at the pump, the relevant announcement said.
The app is available on the myAADE digital portal, under: Applications > Popular Applications > myDiesel, and through the free myDieselApp for mobile devices (iOS & Android).
How the new digital process works in four simple steps:
The beneficiary logs into the app using their personal TAXISnet credentials and issues a digital voucher to buy diesel fuel (DIESEL) for engines. The voucher has a unique code and QR code.
The fuel station operator scans or enters the voucher number and issues the relevant sales document with the applicable exemption from SCT and VAT.
The app automatically cross-checks the transaction in real time, checks the quantity of diesel each farmer is entitled to and updates their available balance.
SCT is automatically reimbursed to fuel stations at least every Monday and Thursday, after sales documents have been verified through the Independent Authority for Public Revenue’s information systems (myDATA or eSend), with no further action required from the fuel station operator.
Key milestones
22 October 2026: Fuel station operators can begin registering on the myDiesel app, with registration mandatory.
1 November 2026: Mandatory digital distribution of agricultural diesel begins.
Margaritis Schinas, minister for Rural Development and Food, said:
“Fill up, scan and go! Three words that capture the major change we are bringing to agricultural diesel.
Farmers will now benefit from the reduction in the special consumption tax directly at the pump, without having to pay the tax upfront and wait for a refund. The money they no longer have to pay at the fuel station today will be available tomorrow for their fields.
This is one of the most long-standing demands of Greek farmers. They asked for it. The prime minister promised it. The government is delivering it. And the benefit is significant.
A cotton farmer with 100 stremmas, who could have benefited by up to €615 in 2020–2022, will be able to benefit by €2,460 in 2026. Four times as much money, for the same crop and the same area.
With myDiesel, every farmer will be able to see the quantity of diesel they are entitled to, based on the details of their own farm.
Today, I am also taking the initiative to begin the process of updating the tables setting out the reference quantities for agricultural diesel. These tables were drawn up in 2016. Ten years have passed. Crops, machinery and farmers’ needs have changed. Agriculture has moved ten years forward. There is no reason for the tables to remain ten years behind.
I know this is not the first time something like this has been announced, but it will be the last time. Next time, we will have the new tables. Agricultural diesel at the pump is becoming a reality.”.
Dimitris Markopoulos, deputy minister for National Economy and Finance, said:
“In line with the prime minister’s directives to provide substantial support to the farming community, the Ministry of National Economy and Finance is working intensively to support the work of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food through people-focused, targeted policies and meaningful tax relief — such as a full tax exemption for farmers with an income of up to €20,000.
With the new, pioneering myDiesel app, developed in close co-operation with Giorgos Pitsilis, governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, and fuel station operators, immediate exemption at the pump is now a reality, making the process easier and faster than ever.
We are listening to the needs of Greek farmers, who work hard every day, and responding with action, transparency and solutions that provide real relief to the primary sector.”.
Giorgos Pitsilis, governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, stressed:
“The myDiesel app is another important step in the digital transformation of tax administration and in providing practical support to the primary sector.
By harnessing the capabilities of technology, we ensure transactions are fully secured through automated checks and prompt reimbursements to fuel stations.
With myDiesel, farmers see the benefit immediately when they fill up, fuel station operators serve customers quickly through a simple digital process, and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue fully safeguards the transparency and validity of each transaction.”.
