For World Pasta Day on 25 October, Evoiki Zymi is returning to its roots, where its story began 41 years ago in Psachna, Evia. In 1985, the company took its first steps in traditional pasta production with “Psachna Pasta”, laying the foundations for a journey that would see it grow into a Greek food manufacturer with a broad product portfolio and a presence in Greece and abroad.
A defining milestone on this journey was the creation of the “Psachna Dough” brand, which marked the company’s expansion into the dough products category. This new line of business gave a significant boost to its growth and recognition, broadening its prospects in the market. Traditional pasta, meanwhile, remains part of its production, maintaining the connection with its beginnings.
Today, the “Psachna Pasta” range includes hilopites, short-cut hilopites, sweet and sour trahana, manestraki and couscous. These products have a longstanding place in Greek cuisine and are associated with familiar flavours and recipes from different parts of the country. From classic hilopites with tomato-braised meat and trahana soups to dishes with seasonal vegetables, mushrooms and aromatic herbs, traditional pasta offers many options for everyday meals, combining much-loved recipes with more contemporary approaches to cooking.
Evoiki Zymi’s journey reflects the evolution of a Greek business that has expanded into new food categories while retaining the products it started out with. Forty-one years on, “Psachna Pasta” continues to have a place in its portfolio, forming an integral part of its history, the company says.
As a member of the ELLA-DIKA MAS initiative, Evoiki Zymi continues to manufacture in Greece, developing its products and strengthening its presence in the domestic and international markets.
