LAMDA Development S.A. (LAMDA) announces that Odysseas Athanasiou will step down as chief executive on 31 December 2026, after 18 years in the role and 21 years with the Company in total.
The Board of Directors has appointed Evi Kostaki as the Company’s new chief executive, with her appointment taking effect on 1 January 2027.
Ms Kostaki is a senior executive with an international career and more than 25 years of professional experience. Most recently, she served as Group CFO and a member of the Executive Board of Swiss banking group Julius Baer.
She has extensive expertise in financial management and strategy, as well as broad experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), asset management and business transformation.
During Mr Athanasiou’s tenure, LAMDA developed into one of Southeastern Europe’s leading real estate development and management groups, increasing its total assets fivefold to about €5bn and quadrupling its net asset value (NAV) to about €1.5bn.
Mr Athanasiou played a pivotal role in securing and advancing the landmark investment in The Ellinikon, helping overcome complex institutional, licensing, financing and construction challenges and launch work on Europe’s largest urban regeneration project.
At the same time, he strengthened LAMDA’s leading businesses in shopping centres and marinas, having taken charge of the Company at the height of the financial crisis. From 1 January 2027, Mr Athanasiou will serve as an adviser to Consolidated Lamda Holdings (CLH), focusing on relations with institutional bodies and state authorities.
Statement from Dr Spyros Latsis: “Odysseas Athanasiou played a pivotal role in shaping LAMDA into the company it is today. His leadership spanned some of the most challenging and significant periods in the Company’s history, from the financial crisis to the undertaking and development of The Ellinikon. We deeply appreciate his contribution and the relationship of trust built over all these years. Continuing our collaboration through CLH will allow us to draw on his experience and business judgement. We welcome Evi Kostaki and are confident that her fresh perspective and leadership experience will contribute to LAMDA’s next phase of growth”.
Statement from Stefanos Kotsolis, Chairman of the Board of Directors: “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Odysseas Athanasiou for his dedication and leadership contribution over the years. His role was pivotal in laying strong foundations for the Company’s future. We are delighted to welcome Evi Kostaki as the new chief executive and look forward to working with her to advance the Company’s strategic priorities, building on what we have achieved to date”.
Statement from Odysseas Athanasiou: “LAMDA has been much more to me than the most important chapter of my professional life. I had deep faith in Dr Spyros Latsis’s vision and shared it, and together with the people at LAMDA I devoted myself to shaping the Company’s course and making that vision a reality. It became a life’s mission. Through successive crises and exceptionally challenging conditions, we managed to transform the Company and bring to life a project that for many years was considered almost impossible. The Ellinikon has now moved from promise to delivery. And perhaps this is the most meaningful moment to close one chapter and begin another. I deeply value the long-standing relationship of mutual trust and respect I have built with Dr Spyros Latsis and his family, and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the years ahead. As I begin this new chapter, my confidence in LAMDA’s prospects remains strong, as reflected in my decision to retain my shareholding in the Company”.
Statement from Evi Kostaki: “I am honoured by the trust placed in me by the Board of Directors and our shareholders, and grateful to Odysseas Athanasiou, whose leadership played a pivotal role in shaping LAMDA into the company it is today. LAMDA has a strong base of recurring revenue from its shopping centres and marinas, while The Ellinikon, which is transforming Athens, is now moving from construction to delivery, with the first residents expected within the next two years. My priorities are clear: to maintain the Company’s momentum; deliver what we have committed to our customers and the Greek state; fulfil our promises to local communities; continue to grow revenue from our shopping centres and marinas; and maintain the financial discipline that has established investor confidence in LAMDA. I look forward to advancing LAMDA’s strategic vision and working with an outstanding team”.
