The crews of EYDAP are on operational standby to deal with emergencies caused by severe weather in Attica, the company said in a statement.
Regarding the heavy rainfall in Alimos, EYDAP said its crews had been at the site since the weather events began, as part of the operational plan activated whenever an emergency weather bulletin is issued and in accordance with the approved environmental conditions for the safe operation of its sewerage facilities.
The company also said it had completed the necessary studies and set specific projects in motion to increase the capacity of the sewerage network in the area, taking into account the growing intensity and frequency of extreme weather events.
Specifically, studies have been completed for the upgrade of an existing pumping station and the construction of a new relief pipeline.
The statement said the tender process for the pumping station upgrade was already under way, with the call for bids scheduled for the first 10 days of November.
The corresponding process for construction of the new relief pipeline will follow, in line with the technical design for the projects.
The projects aim to improve the operational capacity of the sewerage network in Alimos and manage the effects of heavy rainfall more effectively.
