Nationwide, total building activity (private and public) in July 2026, based on building permits issued, amounted to 2,873 permits, corresponding to 623,858 m² of floor area and 2,687,283 m³ of volume. This represented an 8.3% decrease in the number of permits, a 15.0% decrease in floor area and a 24.3% decrease in volume compared with the same month in 2025.
Nationwide, permits issued for private building activity in July 2026 totalled 2,846, corresponding to 611,393 m² of floor area and 2,628,922 m³ of volume. This represented an 8.7% decrease in the number of permits, a 15.6% decrease in floor area and a 24.9% decrease in volume compared with the same month in 2025.
Nationwide, permits issued for public building activity in July 2026 totalled 27, corresponding to 12,465 m² of floor area and 58,361 m³ of volume. Public building activity accounted for 2.2% of total building volume in July 2026.
Over the past 12 months, from August 2025 to July 2026, total building activity (private and public) nationwide, based on building permits issued, amounted to 31,446 permits, corresponding to 7,211,036 m² of floor area and 34,072,175 m³ of volume. Compared with the corresponding period from August 2024 to July 2025, the number of permits rose by 7.9%, floor area by 10.6% and volume by 14.1%.
Over the same period, from August 2025 to July 2026, private building activity nationwide rose by 8.1% in the number of building permits issued, by 11.4% in floor area and by 14.4% in volume compared with the corresponding period from August 2024 to July 2025.
Public building activity accounted for 2.8% of total building volume over the period.
