A joint decision by Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Konstantinos Katsafados, published in the Government Gazette (FEK B’/6417/23.10.2026), provides for a 12-month suspension of any enforcement action against the movable or immovable property of individuals and legal entities affected by the wildfires and floods of July and August 2026.
The suspension covers, among other things, auctions, seizures, evictions and personal detention, as well as time limits for bringing legal remedies in pending enforcement proceedings. Only claims for maintenance are excluded.
The decision applies to individuals and businesses certified as affected by the competent regional authorities and included in the state support framework or the housing assistance and household goods compensation programme.
The suspension applies in areas designated as affected in the Regional Units of: (a) Laconia in the Region of Peloponnese, (b) Ioannina in the Region of Epirus, (c) Eastern Attica in the Region of Attica and (d) Euboea in the Region of Central Greece. For each area, the suspension takes effect on the date the decision designating it as affected was issued.
The measure forms part of efforts to support those affected and provide economic relief to residents and businesses hit by the summer’s wildfires and floods.
