The crisis at Pizza Fan, which last year, according to its published financial statements, recorded sales of €60 million and net profit of just €533,100, is reshaping Greece’s pizza market, estimated to be worth more than €300 million. With the chain’s 110 stores closed and its future uncertain, attention is also turning to the other major players, including Domino’s Pizza, which has a network of 55 stores in Greece.
Daufood Greece, which operates the Domino’s brand in the Greek market as master franchisee, recorded sales of €28.29 million last year, a marginal decline of 0.6%.
Net profit fell by 12.4% to €2.08 million from €2.37 million, while pre-tax profit declined to €2.78 million from €3.11 million.
The pressure on profitability is reflected in the gross margin, which fell to 23.6% from 24.5%. Operating profit came to €2.83 million, compared with €3.21 million in 2024.
Competitive pressure is also reflected in Daufood Greece’s management report. The company acknowledges that the prices of competing products are a risk factor and says it sets its pricing policy taking into account both raw material costs and competitors’ prices.
Of Domino’s 55 stores, 26 are company-owned and the remaining 29 are operated by franchise partners. The company supplies raw materials to the entire Greek network and exports to Domino’s stores in seven countries, including Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus and Spain.
According to the financial statements, 65% of turnover comes from retail sales and 35% from wholesale. Sales of finished products fell to €17.54 million from €18.13 million, while revenue from services rose by 13.7% to €3.76 million.
One notable feature of the balance sheet is the company’s profit distribution policy. A €2 million dividend was approved in September 2025. Management also said it would propose a further €2 million distribution for the 2025 financial year, an amount almost equal to the year’s total net profit.
The company has no bank debt, while cash and cash equivalents rose to €4.10 million from €2.48 million in 2024. Short-term liabilities, by contrast, increased to €6.21 million from €3.99 million, largely in connection with the dividend payable.
Daufood Greece is part of the Spanish Daufood group’s network and conducts transactions with related companies. These include expenses of about €603,000 paid to Daufood BCN Holdings.
For 2026, management expects performance to remain at 2025 levels, with the aim of improving results through new products, services and markets.
