The Economic Chamber of Greece is seeking an extension until 31 December 2026 to the deadline for correcting, changing or removing Activity Codes (KADs) generated by the automatic mapping of the 2008 KADs to the new 2025 KADs. The current deadline expires tomorrow, 30 October.
In a letter to George Pitsilis, governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of National Economy and Finance, and Deputy Minister Dimitris Markopoulos, the chamber’s president, Konstantinos Kollias, says businesses and accountants and tax advisers encountered technical and system problems during the automatic mapping process.
There were also significant ambiguities in the names of the new codes. These problems are making it harder for businesses to operate smoothly.
They are also placing an excessive burden on accountants and tax advisers, who are being asked to handle a huge volume of data under tight deadlines.
As Mr Kollias points out, the new deadline is necessary to ensure that the mapping to the new KADs, which take effect on 1 March 2026, is completed smoothly and accurately.
Without it, businesses will unfairly face the penalties and late-filing fines set out in Article 53 of the Tax Procedure Code.
