Defence Minister Nikos Dendias travels to Lorient, France, on Friday 30 October 2026, where he will attend (1.30pm local time) the ceremony to raise the Greek flag aboard the second Greek FDI HN (Belharra)-class frigate, “Nearchos”, marking its official entry into service with the Hellenic Navy.
During his visit, the defence minister will first meet his French counterpart, Catherine Vautrin, at 12.30pm local time. They will discuss bilateral defence cooperation, regional and European security, and prospects for further deepening the strategic relationship between the two countries. The two ministers will then make a joint statement to the press.
As the statement said, particular emphasis will be placed on implementing existing agreements, cooperation in the defence industry and coordination between the two sides in response to today’s security challenges.
