The new publication by the Federation of Industries of Greece (SVE), entitled “A Historical Survey of Industry in Northern Greece, 1870–1980,” will be presented on Monday, 2 November 2026, at 5.30 p.m. by SVE and the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), at an event they are organising in the Chamber’s events hall (29 Tsimiski Street, Thessaloniki).
The event will feature opening remarks by SVE president Loukia Saranti and TCCI honorary president Emmanouil Vlachogiannis, while the book will be presented by historian and author Evangelos Chekimoglou.
Produced at SVE’s initiative, the publication charts the development of manufacturing in Northern Greece through historical sources and archival material, shedding light on the region’s industrial journey.
It also provides the basis for creating the Permanent Digital Exhibition, a major SVE initiative focused on the historical development of industry, with the aim of creating a new landmark in western Thessaloniki.
Historical material from the archives of the TCCI was also used to document the publication, with contributions from Mr Vlachogiannis.
