The launch of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue’s (AADE) online myΘέρμανση platform is now only a matter of time, following publication in the Government Gazette of the joint ministerial decision on the heating allowance for the winter of 2026-2027, which will go to around 1.2 million households.
The support payments to beneficiaries are 30% higher to ease mounting pressure on households struggling with the deepening energy crisis.
The minimum allowance is 100 euros, rising to 1,560 euros for people living in parts of the country that experience severe winter cold.
The platform will accept applications until 4 December 2026. Households will receive the advance payment in their bank accounts before Christmas, by 23 December 2026. This payment will also be 30% higher.
The allowance is available to all eligible applicants, regardless of the type of heating they use (heating oil, natural gas, electricity, liquefied petroleum gas, firewood, pellets, blue kerosene or district heating).
The allowance is available to both homeowners and tenants, as well as people living in properties made available rent-free. Each household may receive support for only one type of heating.
Applications must be submitted online using personal TAXISnet credentials. Applicants must provide the electricity supply number for their main residence, the type of heating and the property details. They must also provide an IBAN bank account through myAADE.
Amounts
Specifically, under the joint ministerial decision:
- Reference amounts are set at 380 euros for electricity, 360 euros for pellets, 350 euros for firewood and district heating, 325 euros for natural gas, and 300 euros for heating oil, liquefied petroleum gas and blue kerosene.
- The amounts are increased by 20% for each dependent child and by 30% specifically for this winter season.
- The final amount depends on the weather conditions in the area where the home is located. The allowance starts at 100 euros and rises to 1,040 euros. In areas with greater heating needs, the cap increases to 1,300 euros, and in the coldest settlements to 1,560 euros.
Last year’s beneficiaries will receive an advance based on 60% of the allowance they received in the 2025-2026 season, increased by 30%. For new beneficiaries, the advance is calculated as 50% of the expected amount, increased by 30%. The minimum advance payment is 80 euros.
Eligibility criteria
The income and property criteria for receiving the allowance remain unchanged.
- Single people: Annual income of up to 16,000 euros.
- Married couples: Income of up to 24,000 euros, increased by 5,000 euros for each dependent child.
- Single-parent families: Income of up to 29,000 euros, increased by 5,000 euros for each child after the first.
- Property: Up to 200,000 euros for single people and up to 260,000 euros for married couples and single-parent families, increased by 40,000 euros for each dependent child.
- For those engaged in business activity, total gross family income from that activity must not exceed 80,000 euros.
Those living as guests, dependants, people subject to the luxury living tax and those who own more than two private cars are not eligible for the allowance.
Applicants receiving the Social Residential Tariff (KOT) are also excluded from the electricity subsidy.
Apartment blocks
As every year, a special procedure applies to apartment blocks. Before applications are submitted, the building manager or representative must create a profile for the apartment block on the myΘέρμανση platform, providing its details, the flats and each property’s share of the heating costs.
Residents who meet the criteria can then submit their own applications. Invoices for heating oil must be issued under the apartment block’s tax identification number (AFM), if it has one, or the AFM used to create its profile.
Payments
After the December advance payment, a further payment will be made by 28 May 2027. A supplementary payment for natural gas, district heating and electricity is scheduled by 30 July 2027. To receive the full allowance, beneficiaries must have made eligible heating purchases or consumed eligible heating worth at least twice the amount of the subsidy to which they are entitled.
