A three-year memorandum of cooperation was signed yesterday (Monday ) by Netcompany and the University of Patras, with the aim of strengthening links between academia and the labour market and developing students’ professional skills.
Under the agreement, the company and the university will exchange scientific knowledge and carry out joint scientific and research initiatives, according to the relevant announcement.
Members of the university community, students and postdoctoral researchers will also visit the company’s premises, with particular emphasis on professional development opportunities through internships at Netcompany.
These initiatives will enable students to gain exposure to different business areas and professional roles, and to discuss issues related to working in the technology sector with company executives.
This will give them a clearer picture of their career prospects, helping them make more informed choices about their future and better prepare for the transition to the labour market.
“We have built a long-standing relationship with the University of Patras, which we want to strengthen further through this agreement. It is a pleasure and an honour to share professional knowledge and experience with the academic community. Most importantly, however, we want to give students the opportunity to see first-hand what it is like to work in the technology sector and to plan their own future in it,” said Christos Kontellis, Country Managing Partner of Netcompany SEE.
Christos I. Bouras, rector of the University of Patras and professor in its Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, said: “We are particularly pleased to have signed the memorandum of cooperation with Netcompany, because we firmly believe in cooperation between public universities and the market.”
The three-year memorandum forms part of Netcompany’s strategy to strengthen its partnerships with Greek universities. It follows similar agreements the company has signed with the Athens University of Economics and Business and the postgraduate programme of the University of Piraeus.
