Upgrading school facilities and creating better learning conditions for pupils in the Municipality of Aristotle were key areas of focus for Hellas Gold’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme in 2025-2026.
The company said that, through a programme of initiatives including the renovation and maintenance of school facilities, the provision of equipment and the creation of school libraries, Hellas Gold provided practical support to 15 educational institutions in the area, helping to create a modern, functional environment for more than 2,000 pupils and teachers. Including annual educational programmes and additional spending to support schools, total investment in education for 2025–2026 amounts to €800,000.
- €284,000 to upgrade schools
Since early 2025, significant improvement works have been approved and completed at schools and early-years facilities, focusing on upgrading school premises and making better use of the available space. The works covered Palaiochori Junior High School; the primary schools in Palaiochori, Megali Panagia and Ouranoupoli; the kindergartens in Gomati and Stagira; the playground at Palaiochori Kindergarten; and the Ierissos childcare centre. A study was also carried out on relocating the Megali Panagia childcare centre, with the aim of better meeting the needs of the local community. The school building upgrade programme began in 2021 and has improved conditions at most facilities in the area where Hellas Gold operates.
- €148,000 for educational equipment and school libraries
Support for schools extended beyond building works to include resources for teaching and day-to-day operations. A significant part of the programme addressed schools’ need for educational equipment, including computers, projectors, interactive whiteboards, photocopiers, dehumidifiers, musical instruments and air-conditioning units. In addition, in partnership with the Hellenic Book Club (ELBI), school libraries were established to give pupils greater access to books and encourage a reading culture.
- €350,000 for educational programmes
Investment in raising educational standards in the area also extends to the content of education, through initiatives for children and young people. These include a partnership with EduAct on the “Little Scientists” robotics and STEM programmes for younger pupils; the “Horizons” career guidance programme, aimed at teenagers and their parents; the “Aristevo” scholarship programme for pupils and students in the area; and initiatives addressing bullying and violence and promoting inclusion, in partnership with The Smile of the Child.
- €1 million committed for the future
As part of its strategy, Hellas Gold has committed more than €1 million in future funding to education and support for the next generation. The commitment includes continuing key improvements to schools in the Municipality of Aristotle, providing materials and technological equipment, and running multi-year educational programmes that now span the entire learning journey — from the early school years through to university studies.
