The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announces the data of the Building Activity Survey for the month of March 2026. In particular:
The size of Total Building Activity (Private - Public), during the month of March 2026, in the whole Country based on the issued building permits, amounted to 2,697 building permits, corresponding to 568,908 m2 of surface area and 2,569,307 m3 of volume, thus showing an increase of 22.3% in the number of building permits, an increase of 40.7% in surface area and an increase of 38.0% in volume, compared with the corresponding month of 2025.
The issued permits for Private Building Activity, in the whole Country, during the month of March 2026 amounted to 2,662 building permits, corresponding to 557,463 m2 of surface area and 2,473,520 m3 of volume, showing an increase of 21.3% in the number of building permits, an increase of 40.3% in surface area and an increase of 35.5% in volume, compared with the corresponding month of 2025.
The issued permits for Public Building Activity during the month of March 2026, in the whole Country, amounted to 35 building permits, corresponding to 11,445 m2 of surface area and 95,787 m3 of volume. The share of Public Building Activity in total building volume, for the month of March 2026, is 3.7%.
During the period of the last twelve months, that is from April 2025 to March 2026, the size of Total Building Activity (Private-Public) based on the issued building permits, in the whole Country, amounted to 31,078 building permits, corresponding to 7,112,414 m2 of surface area and 34,225,118 m3 of volume. Compared with the corresponding period of April 2024 - March 2025, an increase of 9.1% was observed in the number of building permits, an increase of 10.5% in surface area and an increase of 16.4% in volume.
During the same period, April 2025 - March 2026, Private Building Activity, in the whole Country, shows an increase of 9.3% in the number of issued building permits, an increase of 11.3% in surface area and an increase of 17.6% in volume, compared with the corresponding period of April 2024 - March 2025. The share of Public Building Activity in total building volume, for the above period, is 2.7%.
In the quarter January - March 2026, Total Building Activity shows, in the whole Country, an increase of 14.4% in the number of building permits, an increase of 48.3% in surface area and an increase of 60.0% in volume, compared with the corresponding quarter of the year 2025 (Table 5). During the same period January - March 2026, Private Building Activity, in the whole Country, shows an increase of 14.1% in the number of building permits, an increase of 49.5% in surface area and an increase of 60.4% in volume, compared with the period January - March 2025.
