The ongoing intra-party clash is being transferred to a new session of the Central Committee against the backdrop of the Hellenic Left Alliance of Alexis Tsipras and the possibility of SYRIZA running independently in the elections. Added to the tense climate prevailing was the departure of Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou, while reports of new departures of party officials and independences of MPs have increased.
Ms. Xenogiannakopoulou stated: “I cannot imagine that there could be a SYRIZA ballot against Alexis Tsipras and ELAS.
The political and social need requires commitment to a strong progressive left-wing pole that will once again express a majority current of political and social change”.
The party continues with initiatives and interventions, it is not going to proceed with self-dissolution, is the message from Koumoundourou.
SYRIZA's press representative, Christos Giannoulis, speaking to Real FM, stated: “The intolerance or refusal of Alexis Tsipras's party for any cooperation is a bit excessive, this refusal.
Whether we will run or not run in the elections I do not consider to be an answer accompanied by the expression sine qua non”.
ELAS press representative, Theoni Koufonikolakou stated to Parapolitika 90.1 FM: “We do not send a message to other political spaces about what they should do. We follow our own path and we are focused on our goal”.
At the same time, the intra-party opposition directly questions the choices of Sokratis Famellos.
SYRIZA MP, Nikos Pappas, speaking to OPEN, stressed that: “With the current balance of forces, it is clear that recovery cannot happen”.
“Obviously, if any other understanding is not found, we will be present to fight the election battle”, said Anastasia Sapouna, deputy secretary of SYRIZA-PS's Central Committee.
“I will repeat once again that I am not here as an independent MP, I am a SYRIZA MP”, stressed Pavlos Polakis, speaking in Parliament.
The session of the Central Committee is expected to take place on July 4 or July 11.
