With a targeted operational action of high precision, based on modern risk analysis tools and the use of algorithmic models, the inspectors of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) carried out extensive inspections of food service and leisure businesses in Eastern Attica.
According to the relevant announcement, the targeting of the businesses arose from specific indications of tax risk, such as:
- the non-connection of cash registers with POS
- the non-transmission of data to the myDATA platform and
- other findings from the analysis of the available data.
The inspection teams of AADE carried out surprise and repeated inspections in tourist areas of Eastern Attica, from Markopoulo and Porto Rafti to Artemida, Lavrio and Nea Makri, checking a total of 38 food service businesses, cafés, bars and leisure venues.
Despite the fact that the particularly strong winds significantly limited customer traffic to the shops, the inspections revealed high rates of non-compliance:
- 20 out of the 38 businesses (53%) were found to be violating tax legislation.
- 150 tax violations were confirmed.
- Fines of 50,000 euros were assessed.
At the same time, the measure of 48-hour suspension of operation was imposed on two businesses in Porto Rafti, due to serious violations of tax legislation.
AADE is strengthening its operational presence daily in areas with increased economic and tourist activity, making use of modern data analysis methods, surprise inspections and targeted interventions.
The message is clear: the inspections are not limited to isolated actions. They will continue with undiminished intensity throughout the summer period, with the aim of combating tax evasion, protecting compliant businesses and ensuring equal conditions of competition in the market.
