A meeting with the Minister of Commerce and Industry of India Piyush Goyal was held today by the Minister of National Economy and Finance and president of the Eurogroup Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
At the center of the meeting were developments in global trade, EU-India trade relations, the deepening of Greece-India economic relations and the strategic possibilities of cooperation between the two countries. The restructuring of global trade makes the creation of resilient supply chains, reliable trade routes and stronger economic partnerships that enhance stability and growth even more critical.
Particular emphasis was placed on the prospects for cooperation in shipping, logistics, technology, digitalization, agri-food, energy and tourism, as well as on the mobility of specialized human resources.
At the same time, the new investment opportunities being created were highlighted, with Greece acting as a natural gateway for Indian businesses to the European market and India as one of the fastest-growing powers of the global economy.
A special place in the discussion was held by the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), an initiative with a strong geoeconomic footprint, which aspires to redraw the trade maps between Asia and Europe. In this new connectivity architecture, Greece is emerging as a strategic hub, leveraging its geographical position, its ports and its modern infrastructure.
