INTRACOM DEFENSE (IDE) signed a contract with MBDA Deutschland GmbH for the development and serial production of the data link solution of the DEFENDAIR missile (formerly SADM – Small Anti-Drone Missile). The program leverages the proven missile communications technologies developed by IDE, as well as its long-standing expertise in advanced defense electronics and tactical communications systems.
Within the framework of the project, the relevant announcement notes, IDE will undertake the development, prototype manufacturing, integration support on different platforms, as well as the creation of the production line for the future serial manufacture of the integrated communications system, both in the ground segment and in the missile, fully covering the operational requirements of DEFENDAIR.
The DEFENDAIR program strengthens IDE’s position in the rapidly evolving European ecosystem for countering unmanned aerial systems (Counter-UAS) and supports broader European initiatives aimed at enhancing integrated, mobile, scalable, and cost-effective air defense capabilities against emerging threats from unmanned aerial vehicles.
IDE, through continuous investments in research and development, state-of-the-art industrial infrastructure, and specialized scientific personnel, has developed competitive technological capabilities that enable it to successfully support demanding next-generation defense programs in the international market.
