Huawei continues to invest in the new generation of scientists in Greece, offering scholarships to two postgraduate students of the Athens University of Economics and Business, within the framework of the Corporate Social Responsibility program in the field of Education.
The scholarships were awarded to Theofanis Tsakiris and Aikaterini Petroulia, students of the Department of Informatics and specifically of the Postgraduate Studies Program in “Security & Development of Information Systems”. The two students completed their studies with excellent performance in a field that is at the center of the digital transition: cybersecurity and the protection of information systems.
At a time when businesses, public organizations and critical infrastructure rely increasingly on digital technologies, and the protection of data, systems and networks is a basic prerequisite for the resilience of the modern economy, the relevant announcement notes.
On the occasion of their graduation, Tonia Petrovits, Senior Public Relations Manager of Huawei, attended the graduation ceremony and presented the two top graduates with honorary plaques, recognizing their effort, consistency and academic journey. Within the framework of the ceremony, the Director of the Program, Mr. Gritzalis, awarded an honorary plaque and warmly thanked Huawei for its valuable sponsorship support to the Program.
As he noted, “Its contribution constitutes a substantial example of the importance of close cooperation between the academic community and the labor market. Through such initiatives, valuable opportunities are created for our students to come into contact with modern technological developments, develop highly sought-after skills and prepare effectively for their professional path”.
To date, through the Corporate Social Responsibility program, Huawei Greece has granted scholarships, in the form of financial support, to more than 75 undergraduate and postgraduate students from eight Greek University Institutions, confirming its steady commitment to strengthening education, excellence and the development of digital skills in Greece.
