With a provision submitted to Parliament, the cut to widow's pensions after three years is abolished, a regulation that had been imposed by the Katrougalos law. The announcement was made by Niki Kerameos while speaking in Parliament. At the same time, she made it known that those who had continued to receive their pension and would have had to return the extra amount are exempted from retroactive repayments.
In practice, all beneficiaries of widow's pensions who fall under the Katrougalos law will receive 70% of the pension even after the three-year period. Those who have meanwhile undergone the reduction will see their pension increase.
As the minister said, our commitment is to improve compliance with insurance legislation and to improve the revenues of the insurance funds. The regulation is being promoted because this year, for the period January-April, it emerges that revenues exceed the targets of the Medium-Term Program by 517 million euros.
