On the initiative of Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Mr. Nikos Papathanasis, the Consultation Conference entitled: “Cohesion Policy in the 2028–2034 Programming Period | National and Regional Partnership Agreement Plan” will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Athens Conservatoire.
As the relevant announcement notes, the Conference marks the official launch of the national dialogue for shaping the Greek strategy in view of the new 2028–2034 programming period and the drafting of the new National and Regional Partnership Agreement Plan. This is a particularly important process, through which the country's development priorities for the next decade will be determined, in close cooperation with the European institutions and all national and regional partners.
The aim of the Conference is to develop a meaningful and open dialogue among the Government, the European institutions, local government, the social and economic partners, the academic community and civil society, in order to shape a modern and effective development framework that will respond to the new European priorities and the real needs of the Greek Regions.
At the center of the Conference proceedings will be the major development challenges of the next 2028-2034 programming period, such as strengthening competitiveness and innovation, the green and digital transition, the demographic challenge, skills development, addressing the brain drain, strengthening the resilience of the Regions, as well as promoting social cohesion and territorial convergence throughout the country.
The Conference constitutes the first organized step toward shaping Greece's national position regarding the future of Cohesion Policy after 2027 and aspires to contribute to the formation of a modern, participatory and effective development model, which will strengthen the sustainable development, cohesion and competitiveness of the country and its Regions, the announcement concludes.
