A package of measures to provide a solution to the explosive housing problem in our country is being proposed by ELAS, through a video uploaded by Alexis Tsipras on social media.
The party president, as he states, is putting into practice the commitment that he will give the floor to citizens and answers questions about the housing issue, as well as about the anxiety of young people who are forced to still live with their parents.
At the core of ELAS's proposals, as Alexis Tsipras mentions, is a package of five measures, so that housing remains a “right for all and not a privilege for a few.”
Specifically, ELAS proposes:
- Establishment of a non-profit public body for the management of housing loans, as well as public real estate assets. The goal is for properties that today remain closed, inactive, to be able to be converted into social housing, affordable housing for all, especially for young people.
- Tax disincentives for maintaining vacant homes.
- A very high tax on the transfer of real estate to companies outside the European Union.
- Control and restriction of Airbnb, especially in areas of high housing demand
- Abolition of the Golden Visa.
