It appears that businessman Pantelis Boumbouras is preparing his new investment step in tourism, as after his place of origin, Lemnos, he is turning his interest to Athens.
The Boumbouras family's plan provides for the conversion of an existing office building, located in the heart of Athens, into a 4-star hotel. In this context, next Tuesday the Directorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities is expected to give its opinion on the relevant study for the building, which P. Boumbouras has leased from the Holy Monastery of Penteli. The property in question is located in the Psyrri area, on Evripidou Street.
This new investment marks the expansion of the Lemnian businessman's presence in the Greek hospitality market, following the major tourism development he has been promoting in recent years in Lemnos.
The investment in Lemnos
The other investment project the businessman is pursuing is Limnos Resort, a project with a budget of 171 million euros, which is in the licensing process and aspires to become one of the most important tourism investments planned in the North Aegean.
This project, according to the plan, will be developed on an area of 321 stremmas at the location Agia Paraskevi, at Tigani Cape of Myrina, and provides for the creation of an integrated high-specification tourist complex.
According to the plan, it will include two five-star hotels, one four-star hotel, tourist residences and villas, commercial and restaurant uses, leisure and sports areas, a museum, as well as a tourist boat shelter with a capacity of 100 berths.
The development is estimated to have a total of 1,860 beds, of which 1,020 will concern hotel units and the rest tourist residences. The main aim of the investment is to create a new luxury hospitality destination, leveraging the comparative advantages of Lemnos while at the same time strengthening the local economy, employment, and the connection of tourism with agri-food and the cultural identity of the island.
The Boumbouras family
The Boumbouras family, originating from Lemnos, became known through its business activity in Ukraine, where P. Boumbouras founded in 1997 in Odesa the construction company Gefest. The company developed into one of the country's largest real estate development groups, with a presence in cities such as Kyiv, Odesa, Mariupol, Sevastopol, and Yalta.
Under the presidency of P. Boumbouras and with his son, Vasilis, as CEO, Gefest developed a broad portfolio of projects with residences, hospitals, shopping centers, office buildings, educational institutions, and other complex developments, as well as vertically integrated production of building materials.
