The spokesperson of PASOK-Movement for Change, Kostas Tsoukalas, launched a fierce attack on Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the occasion of the prime minister's Sunday post today.
As the relevant statement notes, the prime minister appears less "angry" about high prices, because, as the government claims, prices remained stable for two months on 2,000 product codes.
"Of course, he is probably keeping these codes as a surprise for us because neither Mr. Theodorikakos knows them nor the Hellenic Super Market Association. Based on the announcements of the Ministry of Development, consumers will not know these codes in order to buy them either, unless they hire a detective", he comments.
"Mr. Prime Minister, every day it is proven by the country's low ranking in competitiveness and productivity, the high deficit in the current account balance, and the collapsed purchasing power that the economy is not overperforming as you claim. High prices are overperforming and leading to excess profitability of cartels and state profiteering through indirect taxes. Not only did you not reduce taxes as you say, but through indirect taxation you increased the burden on households and businesses.
On the issue of widow's pensions, one question arises. Why did you delay seven years to abolish a deeply unjust provision? If you claim that the money did not exist, then you vindicate Mr. Katrougalos and the previous government that legislated the pension cuts. If not, explain to us why your government issued the Tsakloglou circular that applied its provisions even more harshly than the authors of the law, cutting an entire national pension?
And one last thing: After the revelations about the gaps in the security protocols and the country's humiliation with the deception of the Secretary General for National Security by Russian pranksters, do you still insist that you are the most suitable person to pick up the phone at three o'clock in the morning? When the incident in Kasos occurred that led to the retreat from the cable-laying operation, did you consult Mr. Dokos?
P.S. As for the guilt of the President's chosen one at OPEKEPE, Mr. Melas, whom he praised as excellent when announcing him as a candidate for New Democracy MEP, apparently the news has not yet reached Maximos. He would have read it and was not informed," Tsoukalas characteristically states.
