Maria Karystianou attended today the open discussion on the topic “National issues and NATO Summit: 52 years after the Coup in Cyprus,” which took place at 18:00 at the Great Athens Hotel (Veranzerou 12, Athens).
The speakers at the event were Konstantinos Grivas, professor at the Hellenic Military Academy, ambassador emeritus Periklis Nearchou, retired general Dimitris Kypriotis, professor of International Politics and Economics at the University of East London Vasilis Fouskas, Dr. of Political Science and International Relations Sotiris Mitralexis and Dr. of international law of the sea, author and lawyer Kerry Mavrommati.
The discussion was moderated by NKUA professor Dimitris Panagiotopoulos, member of the Political Council of “Hope for Democracy.”
According to the organizers, the event took place at a time when Turkey is strengthening its position in NATO and in the Eastern Mediterranean, while particular emphasis is being placed on developments surrounding national issues and Cyprus, 52 years after the coup of 1974.
