Antonis Samaras launched an attack against Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Dora Bakoyannis through two videos he posted on social media, in which he speaks with the director of his Press Office, Nikos Tsioutsias.
The former prime minister, through a dialogue with his close associate, rejects the claims that a possible founding of a new party by him would deprive New Democracy of self-reliance, arguing that the responsibility lies exclusively with government policy.
“Self-reliance requires 37%. I was telling them to do 10 things and they did the opposite. And that is why New Democracy went from 40 to 20,” he characteristically states, arguing that he had warned the government about issues such as marriage and adoption by same-sex couples, national issues, support for small and medium-sized businesses, high prices, scandals, and Justice.
Later in the conversation, when Nikos Tsioutsias comments that government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis has argued that any creation of a party by Mr. Samaras would confirm the correctness of his expulsion from ND, the former prime minister replies sarcastically: “Do you know what that reminds me of? Arguments of the president of Edessaikos”.
In the second video, Antonis Samaras turns against Dora Bakoyannis, on the occasion of her recent statements about him. “Do you know how many years have passed since she lost the leadership to me? 17. You still haven’t gotten over it. Let her sort it out with her brother,” he says, while the post is accompanied by the phrase: “Dora, get a grip…”
