The former prime minister Mr. Antonis Samaras submitted to the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court an application requesting the full investigation of his entrapment with the spyware Predator.
In the application, among other things, Mr. Samaras states that he has repeatedly requested publicly from the government answers on the matter, without any response to date.
The full text of Samaras' application to the Supreme Court
“Honorable Prosecutor,
I submit this, regarding the case of illegal surveillance through the spyware Predator, a case which has already received wide publicity and is causing reasonable concern for national security and its protection, for the functioning of institutions and the protection of fundamental rights.
Specifically, for months now it has become publicly known that I was also personally a target of this spyware.
The fact of my illegal entrapment I have repeatedly highlighted through my public interventions. I have raised it clearly institutionally from the podium of the Hellenic Parliament but also through public dialogue, insisting that it is a major issue that cannot remain in the dark or in silence and cannot be the subject of machinations and cover-ups. In these statements, I have also particularly emphasized the very serious risks that the operation of such an illegal mechanism within Greek territory entails for national security, especially under conditions of intense geopolitical instability.
It is self-evident that the surveillance of persons holding key institutional positions constitutes a matter of exceptional institutional and national gravity.
Because I have repeatedly requested from the Government to investigate the case of my entrapment without any response to date.
For these reasons I request
The full investigation of my entrapment with the spyware Predator.”
How the government spokesperson commented
The government spokesperson, Pavlos Marinakis, when asked to comment on Antonis Samaras' request to the Supreme Court, emphasized:
“From the moment he is a citizen, whether he is prime minister or not, the answers are given by justice. On the substance of the case, justice has answered with a series of provisions and it is not for me to say anything further.
Beyond that, I am not aware of any communications of Mr. Samaras with the government nor is there any such information here for years that this issue has been discussed. I remind you that this case, regarding the resignations and the legal wiretappings of Mr. Androulakis, began to be discussed in 2022. Subsequently, in 2023 Mr. Samaras was also a candidate with ND.”

Marinakis, commenting on today's application of the former prime minister of Greece Antonis Samaras to the Supreme Court, stated among other things, verbatim, the following; "in 2023 if I remember correctly, Mr. Samaras was also a candidate with New Democracy"", respond associates of Antonis Samaras to the comment of the government spokesperson.
As they point out, "if we remember correctly, in 2023 ND had Kyriakos Mitsotakis as president. Does New Democracy have any relation to the case? Does Kyriakos Mitsotakis, perhaps? So why does Mr. Marinakis associate the surveillance of Mr. Samaras with New Democracy and the 2023 elections?”
