Veolia undertook a landmark two-year contract, with the possibility of a six-month extension, for the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Koropi–Paiania, which serves the eastern area of the Attica Region.
This contract is a significant milestone for Veolia in Greece, strengthens its position in the Greek market, and marks the first substantial collaboration between Veolia and EYDAP, the country's leading water supply company, according to the relevant announcement.
The agreement is of particular importance, as it is the first time that EYDAP assigns the operation of its wastewater treatment facilities to one of the leading international companies in environmental services, confirming Veolia's proven expertise and operational excellence in this field.
With this milestone contract, Veolia assumes full responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, which serves approximately 100,000 residents of the eastern area of metropolitan Athens.
Veolia will leverage this opportunity of its first major operational contract in Greece to showcase its technological expertise, operational excellence, and innovative solutions in the field of wastewater management. Drawing on its international know-how, the Company will implement advanced processes and best practices to optimize the operation of the facility, enhance treatment efficiency, ensure strict compliance with environmental requirements, and secure sustainable performance for the coming years.
This collaboration strengthens Veolia's already established presence in Greece, which is based on its minority stake of 5% in EYATH, the water supply and sewerage company of Thessaloniki, which provides integrated water supply and wastewater management services to 1.3 million people. The Koropi–Paiania contract further expands Veolia's presence in the strategically important area of Eastern Attica.
