The President of the Eurogroup and Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, held a brief meeting with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, at the Élysée Palace, on the sidelines of his meetings with the Secretary-General of the French Presidency, Pierre-André Imbert, according to a related announcement.
Discussions at the Élysée Palace focused on the major challenges facing Europe today, with an emphasis on strengthening the competitiveness of the European economy, defense funding, attracting investment, accelerating the technological transition, as well as the prospects for further strengthening Greek-French economic cooperation.
Mr. Pierrakakis emphasized that Europe must move with greater speed, ambition, and unity in order to strengthen its economic power, ensure its strategic autonomy, and effectively respond to the challenges of the new era.
During the meeting with Mr. Imbert, the exceptional level of the Greek-French strategic relationship was reaffirmed, as was the importance of close cooperation between Greece and France in advancing European priorities.
