Efthymios Bakogiannis announced his departure from the Ministry of Environment and Energy, submitting his resignation from the position of Secretary General for Spatial Planning and Urban Environment.
In a letter sent on June 7 to Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou, Mr. Bakoyannis states that his decision was made for personal reasons, as he believes that an important chapter of his long tenure has come to a close and he now wishes to return to his academic duties.
At the same time, he states that he will remain at the disposal of the political leadership to facilitate the transition and the assumption of duties by the new Secretary General, as well as to ensure the continuity of the General Secretariat’s work.
The outgoing Secretary General thanks the Prime Minister, the Ministry’s political leadership, his office staff, and the staff of the Ministry of Environment and Energy for their cooperation and support, which, as he notes, contributed to the achievement of the goals and projects undertaken in the fields of spatial planning and urban planning.
